Your Scrum is Useless

Very cool! But I thought this was against the rules. Something about not making contact to any other skater while being airborne.

Contact while you’re in the air is initiation based. So if you jump the apex, and an opposing blocker initiates, it is legal. You cannot jump in the air to initiate a block. That is more like tackling. White Flight did not initiate with the black blocker, rather, the black blocker was attempting to initiate and it was legal on both sides of the story. Also, the assist started while WF was on the ground, the contact started prior to any airborned-ness.

So I can make contact during an apex jump as long as the contact started before I left the ground. Once I’m in the air I can no longer initiate contact with any other skater.

Do I have that correct?

What I see, and I’ve paused it numerous times, is that White Flight’s Va-jay totally made sweet love to that Gotham chick’s thigh. Sooooo….that couple with the clockwise blocking by the “assister” bring me to think questionably legal and def. not lead jammer. But I don’t wear the stripes.

While White Flight might have made incidental contact with Davey Blockit as she was jumping, Blockit was initiating the contact by actively booty blocking Flight. Flight isn’t actively taking a flying jump at Blockit and is not the initiator of the contact. It’s just like when someone tries to jump the apex and a blocker makes contact while the jumper is in mid-air (but the blocker’s feet stay planted). That’s a totally legal block all around. Throttle-Her is 100% right.

“6.8.11 – There is no penalty for blocking a skater who has jumped off both skates and left contact with the track from in bounds.”
